Is it safe to live near a bay, by the water in Miami Beach, FL concern for Hurricane?

Guess its a risk,but I have friends who say its safe.

Any coast in Florida is expose to hurricanes and storms, however is not like you gonna have hurricanes every year, besides almost all buildings in any coast in florida r hurricane proff. So enjoy Miami Beach is great and Welcome to miami.
