I’m looking to get from Miami Beach to Fort Lauderdale airport, I don’t have a car?

I’m going to be staying at a hotel in Miami Beach but my flight home will be from the Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL). I don’t have a car and read cabs charge $75. Are there any good suggestions??

You could try looking on Craigslist under Rideshare .

You’re right, a cab will be about $75.
So take a cab or city bus to Miami Airport (tell the cabbie you’re going to the tri-rail station), then take the Tri-Rail (train) to the Ft Lauderdale Airport stop (only $4). When you get off there’s a free bus that you get on that will take you right to the terminals. Don’t be intimidated by the train. It’s easy!

If you’re leaving at all during odd hours at night or early morning, this plan might not work…

I agree that the Tri-Rail is the way to go. I know people that have used it to get to the airports, and they swear it’s really good. You can’t beat the price! Just allow for the extra travel time–probably about 2 hours to be on the safe side. (30minutes minimum to get to Miami Airport—20-30 minutes to get to Griffin Road station to get off and get the shuttle–don’t know how often those run; probably every 30minutes–and another 15 minutes to get to Ft Laud airport) And you’ll get your last “scenic” look at Miami (ugh–you may want to nap through that! not a pretty sight)

Tri-rail is a commuter line that runs on the half hour mornings & afternoons; hour during mid-day; every two hours on weekends & not at all from about 10PM to 5AM. And you have to get to downtown to get the metro-rail to get to Tri-Rail - about a $20 cab ride.
You can call Supershuttle a day ahead to pick you up anywhere on the Beach (Go to Supershuttle.com) or your hotel will call them. They’ll likely be about 1/2 the cab fare. Schedule your pickup at least an hour and a half before you have to be at FLL.
