I am planning a trip to south beach miami in July. I was wondering if I should plan a trip elsewhere or if its somewhat safer in Miami in July. I don’t want to go down there and deal with tons of rain or hurricanes, so any help would be appreciated. I know the hurricane season runs from June 1st to August 30th or somewhere around there, so should I plan a trip to california, or do you think it will be safe to go to Miami in July?

There are no hurricanes in July, it is not hurricane season and there are never hurricanes in July. And even if there were, you normally have at least a weeks notice about it. There actually haven’t been any hurricanes in a couple of years also.

The greatest frequency of Hurricanes that affect South Florida is during the later half of August thru October. The peak likely hood is Sept. 10. Although it is Hurricane Season in July, and yes it is possible, I would not be concerned about storms affecting my trip. The afternoon thunderstorm season will damper more plans and that is worse in Aug and Sept as well. Go and Enjoy

July is in hurricane season. June 1st through the end of November is the entire season, however, it is very rare we get a major hurricane in the beginning and end of the season.

As for rain, it is also our rainy season. If you’re going to be spending most of your day at the beach, then be prepared to have your sunbathing interrupted by severe thunderstorms. They occur on a daily basis, but do not last all day. At around 1, it starts thundering. By 2pm, it’s pouring, and by 3, the sun is shining again.

I think if you’re going to spend your hard earned money an a vacation, then come here in the winter…it rocks down here!
