Which engine for long road trips from Boston to Miami?

I am planning on buying a used Accord either 04, 05, or 06. The question is, do I need a V6 or a 4 engine would do just fine driving from Boston to Miami? Doesn’t the V6 provides security and last longer? Isn’t a 4 engine enough for long road trips that’s like 24 hours?

Its all in what you want. Either will drive just fine on a long trip. However, if you prefer a car that will get up and go when you want it to and you like a lil bit of performance go with the V6, its about 260 horsepower. The 4cylinder will give you better fuel economy, but wont be nearly as fast. It has about 160 HP. I would imagine the V6 would have a lil bit nicer trim level since its the more upscale model, however Im sure you can get a 4 thats just as nice. So its all in your personal preference. Oh yeah, and really the difference in MPG is not that much. Only a few mpg difference on the highway.

With the current prices of gasoline I would go with the efficient 4 cylinder model. While the V6 may be more fun to drive, it will not have the fuel efficiency required for such a long drive.
There is no reliability difference between the two engines…I would be more concerned with the transmissions! I have replaced both 4 and 6cyl. transmissions due to differential carrier bearing failures. It is not common but it does happen.
